The read
What's actually worth knowing.
- The active noise cancellation is stronger than earlier AirPods models, and you can switch to Transparency mode to hear your surroundings without taking them off.
- They use a Digital Crown (like on Apple Watches) for volume and playback control instead of buttons, which takes some getting used to.
- Spatial audio personalizes the sound based on your ear shape, but you need an iPhone with a TrueDepth camera to set that up.
As of Sep 1, the Apple AirPods Max Wireless Over-Ear Headphones is overpriced at $548.99 — versus a $504.12 typical price and a $399.97 12-month low, based on Amazon's own price history.
