Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ App-Enabled

GOOD PRICE.
This is a beginner-friendly telescope that uses your smartphone to find and track objects in the night sky. You dock your phone, open the StarSense app, and it uses image recognition to figure out where the telescope is pointing, then guides you with on-screen arrows to planets, nebulae, and other targets.

The read
What's actually worth knowing.
- The 114mm mirror is large enough to show decent detail on Jupiter and Saturn, plus deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula, so you're not limited to just the Moon.
- You need a compatible smartphone (iPhone XR or newer, or Android 12 and up) for this to work at all, since the app is what makes it functional.
- The manual mount means you're moving the telescope by hand to follow the app's guidance, not using motorized tracking, so it requires active participation while observing.
As of Sep 1, the Celestron StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ App-Enabled is a good price at $212.99 — versus a $218.96 typical price and a $149.99 12-month low, based on Amazon's own price history.
Its price this year
A fair price — but not a real “sale.”
Sale check Amazon shows “18% off,” measured against a $260 “list price” it doesn't charge. Its usual price is $219 — real discount ≈ 3%.
The phantom Amazon has left this $260 “list price” untouched for 14 months — while the item actually sold for about $219. It's a fixed anchor, not a price it charges.
