The read
What's actually worth knowing.
- The graphite core is thicker than typical pencils, so you get broader lines and the pencil lasts longer before needing resharpening.
- These come unsharpened, so you'll need to sharpen them yourself before using them.
- The eraser is latex-free and attached with the signature green and gold ferrule, so it won't fall off easily.
As of Sep 1, the Ticonderoga Wood-Cased Pencils is a good price at $2.99 — versus a $2.96 typical price and a $1.99 12-month low, based on Amazon's own price history.
Its price this year
A fair price — but not a real “sale.”
Sale check Amazon shows “40% off,” measured against a $5 “list price” it doesn't charge. Its usual price is $3 — real discount ≈ 0%.
The phantom Amazon has left this $5 “list price” untouched for 16 months — while the item actually sold for about $3. It's a fixed anchor, not a price it charges.
